"Fields of wind turbines, onshore and offshore, appear sentinel at the edges of journeys. They tower above the land and sea but are familiar in their surroundings. They blur into one forest-like system and also appear as widely spread monoliths. They repeat across the landscape as a new layer of infrastructure, part of a future that already feels present"

A pattern based on the air conditioning units clustered at the rear of a building block. Around the back of the Barton Arcade in Manchester is the scene that inspired this, an unlikely scene in a city not known for its hot climate.
